IRS Publications
The IRS publishes numerous general and specialized documents to help answer tax questions. Although the publications contain useful information, you must be careful not to rely solely on these publications. The IRS publications typically do not cite the Internal Revenue Code, Regulations, or other authority upon which the information included therein is based. The IRS disclaims any responsibility for damages that the taxpayer may suffer as a result of relying upon the publications. In fact, the IRS may take positions that are contrary to those that are included in the publications in certain court cases or appeals hearings.
